Further Mathematics builds on the content of A-Level Mathematics (you cannot take only Further Mathematics, you must take both) and extends this with the introduction of new content.
The additional content exposes students to many areas that are essential to modern mathematics; for example complex numbers, matrices and hyperbolic functions.
In addition to the Pure mathematics content we will also study mechanics and statistics, both of these take the applied content of A-Level maths further.
General Sixth Form admission requirements.
Mathematics qualifications are highly regarded in many areas of work and an A-Level in Further Mathematics can to higher education courses in Mathematics, Engineering and Science (particularly Physics) but is also an impressive indicator of intellectual quality in many other fields. Finance, engineering, logistics, management, science, social sciences and system analysis are all areas looking for well qualified mathematicians.
